I graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University in 1992. From an early age, I knew that I wanted to become a veterinarian. After gaining four years of experience at various veterinary practices throughout the Netherlands, I joined Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland in 1996. At the end of a long working day, my Jack Russell is waiting for me at home.

I am one of the practice’s all-round veterinarians and work across many different areas of veterinary medicine. I have a particular interest in equine medicine, especially reproductive and fertility care. In addition to my clinical work, I am also responsible for the management of the practice.

After working in Schagen for four years and in Alkmaar for almost ten years, I have been working as a freelance veterinarian at various practices since 2019. By now, I have become a familiar face at our Bergen practice.

Being a veterinarian is my passion – to me, it is the best job in the world. It is incredibly varied, offering a rewarding combination of working with animals and people, and you never quite know what each day will bring!

I live in Heerhugowaard with my husband, our two children and three British Shorthair cats.

I have been working at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since 1 May 2023.

I grew up in the beautiful village of Egmond-Binnen and studied Veterinary Medicine at Utrecht University, specialising in equine medicine. After graduating in January 2016, I worked in both small animal and equine practice.

I live in Egmond-Binnen with my partner, our young son and our lovely cat, Druif. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family or being around horses together with my sister.

I have been part of the veterinary team at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since June 2025.

I grew up on a farm and developed a great passion for cattle, sheep and horses from an early age. When I qualified as a veterinarian in 2018, a lifelong dream came true.

After gaining several years of experience in a mixed veterinary practice, I am very happy to be able to focus on the care of ruminants and horses at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland. I have a particular interest in preventive veterinary medicine, helping to keep both individual animals and herds healthy.

In my spare time, I love being outdoors, whether on horseback, out walking or helping out on my parents’ farm. I also enjoy painting and playing board games with friends.

Louis has been working with us on Wednesdays and Fridays since 2024. As a young veterinarian, he also treated farm animals and horses, both in Brabant and in England, but these days you will mainly find Louis in the consulting room, caring for our smaller four-legged patients.

On the other days of the week, he works in Amsterdam and Naarden – a wonderfully varied working week, although Bergen is of course his favourite!

Outside work, Louis writes books about vintage English and Japanese airguns and loves spending time in the countryside, particularly spotting roe deer. Or, of course, enjoying a good English pub.

I joined this wonderful veterinary practice in November 2025, after completing my veterinary degree in Ghent. I grew up locally and have been riding horses for as long as I can remember. Being able to help both horses and their owners gives me great satisfaction.

You may also meet me while I am on emergency duty, at night or at weekends, whether with your pet or out on the farm.

When I am not working, you will most likely find me underwater with a snorkel. I find the peaceful world beneath the surface fascinating and wonderfully relaxing.

I graduated in 2021 in Poznań, Poland. After completing my internship, I moved to the Netherlands, where I have worked at various veterinary practices across Noord-Holland.

I have a particular interest in veterinary dentistry, and you can meet me at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland on Fridays, where I will be happy to help your pets with their dental care.

I understand Dutch, but I’m not fluent yet, so for the time being I will reply in English.

I live in Amsterdam and, in my free time, I enjoy travelling and keeping active. See you at the clinic!

My name is Lisette Dekker and I have been working as a veterinary assistant at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since May 2002. It is a wonderful job and I hope to continue working here for many years to come. You will usually find me at our Schoorl practice.

Outside work, I spend much of my time looking after my own animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs and chickens. I also run my own rabbit and guinea pig boarding resort, which keeps me happily busy.

I have been a permanent member of the team since May 2009.

I love watching an exciting football match and regularly go to the stadium to see games in person. I live in beautiful Zuid-Scharwoude with my two lovely Golden Retrievers, Max and Olav.

Besides my love for my work, I also enjoy being creative. I make personalised gifts, balloon arches and all kinds of balloon creations. What started as a hobby has grown so much that I have now started my own small business: CreaNouk.

I have been part of the team at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since July 2019.

I trained as a veterinary nurse at Groenhorst College in Barneveld. During my studies, I also completed a work placement here at the practice.

Besides working with animals, I have plenty of pets of my own: two dogs and three cats. My dogs, Mia and Don, come to the practice with me every day.

I have been back at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since July 2023, so many of you may already recognise me as a familiar face.

While training as a veterinary nurse at Clusius College in Alkmaar, I completed several work placements here at the practice. I then worked here for a number of years before moving to the orthopaedics department at MCD in Amsterdam. I have now returned to the place where my career began!

In my spare time, I mainly enjoy training my own horses and competing with them at shows.

I have been working at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since 2023 and graduated from Clusius College in Alkmaar in 2022. Besides my work at the practice, I also work on a dairy farm, where I look after cattle, sheep and newborn lambs – something I absolutely love!

At home, I have my own little menagerie: my dog Ollie, my two rabbits Karel and Pien, and my hamster Frits. In my spare time, I enjoy going out and spending time with friends, as well as looking after my rabbits.

I have been working as a veterinary nurse at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since June 2025.

After completing my training at Clusius College in Alkmaar, I worked at several veterinary practices, including the last 11 years at a mixed practice. Unfortunately, that practice closed, but I have now found my place within the friendly team here. I love the variety of the work and still enjoy it just as much as ever.

I live in Alkmaar with my partner and children, where we also have a Maine Coon cattery and occasionally raise a litter of kittens.

We also have several horses, which we train in dressage. I enjoy going on rides in the countryside with my daughter, and occasionally we breed a foal as well.

I enjoyed my first work placement at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland so much that I decided to stay! I have since qualified as a veterinary nurse and thoroughly enjoy being part of the team.

There is never a dull moment at home with all my animals: I have three cats, two dogs – an Old English Mastiff and a Chongqing Dog – and two ducks.

In my spare time, you will often find me at the stables or on the football pitch.

I have been happily working at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland since the summer of 2025. I spent the previous 20 years working in small animal practices, but by now I have also learnt a thing or two about colic in horses and mastitis in cows!

At home, I enjoy watching football and Formula 1 with my partner Pieter and our two sons – preferably, of course, with our cats Woody and Madelief curled up on our laps.

In August 2024, following a shoulder injury, my previous employer gave me the opportunity to gradually return to work here at the practice. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to stay – and fortunately, the feeling was mutual.

More than thirty years ago, I also worked as a veterinary assistant in Warmenhuizen and Alkmaar. The profession has changed enormously since then, which makes it all the more interesting to now be part of the team at Dierenartsenpraktijk Kennemerland.

I know what it feels like when something is wrong with your animal, and how reassuring it is to know that you can rely on a caring and knowledgeable team.

In my spare time, I spend a lot of time with my Icelandic horses and my Australian Shepherd, Bailey. Animals have been my passion throughout my life, but I also enjoy dinners and parties with family, friends and colleagues.

Whenever one of our veterinary assistants is ill or away, Jessica Sluis steps in to help at the practice.

Jessica runs her own consultancy, Konijnen Adviesbureau (Rabbit Advisory Service), where she focuses on research and education in rabbit welfare.

She lives in Schoorl with her husband, 14 rabbits, three chickens and a cat. Jessica is a true nature lover who enjoys spending time outdoors and puts her love of animals into practice every day.
